In 1993 the ACL (Altona City Library) Donor Program was launched.

A Compact Disc collection was launched (this was quite revolutionary at the time).

CD-Rom databases continued to grow,

The adult literacy classes which took place in the library meeting room were increased to three days a week.

The library’s meeting room was fully booked Monday to Friday and well used on weekends.

A second photocopier was installed, increasing revenue by 40%.

In December 1993 the Robitron Rainbow reader was donated to the library by BP Australia Limited Altona Terminal.  The Robitron was an Opitcal Character Recognition Device (OCR) which allowed people with a print disability to have their book read to them.
