Construction of the Altona North Library is well under way. The slab is complete and work continues offsite, where the precast concrete panels and the structural steel are being made in their respective factories. Planning is under way for the delivery of the huge precast panels which will make up the eastern and western walls and construction is on track for a March 2010 opening.

In line with the adoption of the 2009/2010 Council Budget there will be a number of changes to library fees and charges commencing 1st July. This will include removal of the email charge and an increase in charges for faxes, processing, inter library loans and room/bus hire.

Rhymetime is a four week program designed especially for children aged up to 18 months. Sessions include rhymes, finger plays, songs and short stories and aim to develop young children’s listening, interactive and socialisation skills.

The current series of computer training classes allow people to develop skills in the various aspects of computing, including basic computer skills, email, using the Internet and learning Excel.
