Andrew Daddo Visits Hobsons Bay

Andrew Daddo is coming to Williamstown to promote his new children’s book Check On Me. This author event and book signing is an exciting opportunity to meet one of Australia's most entertaining and enduring television presenters who is also the author of 17 books for children and teenagers and one very moving story for adults.

Food For Fines

Every tin of food will clear $10 worth of fines in November 2009

Hobsons Bay Libraries will be running a Food for Fines Campaign from Monday, 16th November until Monday, 14th December.  Customers will be able to 'pay' for their overdue fines with food instead of cash.  One item will pay up to $10 in overdue charges. There is no limit on how much you can pay.

Libraries on Location will be setting up for a day of 'library engagement' with the community. This is a unique opportunity to join the library while out doing the shopping. Make your day by hearing all about the new Altona North Community Library which is being built just across the street.


1000th eNewsletter Subscriber

1000th SubscriberCongratulations to Josie Cornish, the 1,000th subscriber to the libraries’ eNewsletter. Josie won a $50 voucher for being the lucky 1,000th subscriber.
‘Electronically Yours’ is a great way to find out about the learning, literacy and recreational activities happening at the libraries. It is one of five regular eNewsletters issued by the Council.

Peter Bakowski, well known poet and author of Beneath Our Armour aspires to write clear and accessible poems, whilst using ordinary words to say extraordinary things. Peter will give his  practical tips from 5.00pm followed by refreshments at 5.45pm. Open mic session will take place between 6.00pm - 7.00pm.

Students from St Mary's Primary School in Williamstown, have been working with Scope Victoria to bring the message of "See the person, not the disability" to the community.  At storytime the students will perform fun and engaging puppet plays about tolerance, patience and celebrating our differences.

Computer Classes

Computer Basics classes include learning to use a mouseEnter the world of computers in November, or delve further into the online world with specialist classes such as ancestry. Just in time for Christmas get creative and learn how to customise and send your own animated e-cards.The regular classes - computer basics, introduction to email and to the Internet are on the program and all classes are run in small groups in a supportive environment.
