Lifelong learning is vital for economic progress and social cohesion. The Australian Government has identified four key features of lifelong learning.
- The recognition of both informal and formal learning
- The importance of self-motivated learning
- An emphasis on self-funded learning
- The idea that participation in learning should be universal
The Education, Employment and Learning Strategy 2009 - 2010 provides a coherent framework for Council's support and enhancement of lifelong learning opportunities and was endorsed by Council in October.
