Baby Bounce

Sowing the seeds of literacy.
A music, movement and simple storybased session for carers and their prewalking babies. Especially designed to empower carers with fun techniques for supporting baby’s development.

Wriggle and Read

Active literacy for toddlers.
30 minutes of jiggling, wriggling, singing and reading, designed to model playbased literacy and numeracy strategies for carers and their energetic toddlers.

Please note: From Monday 23 July to Monday 1 October, Wriggle and Read sessions at Altona will relocate to the Community Meeting Space at Atlona Theatre at 115 Civic Parade.

Learn the love of books.
Storytime encourages imagination, socialisation and a life-long love of books and libraries, while preparing preschool-aged (three+) children and their carers for the routines of kinder and school.

Whether you are a new chess player or looking to improve your existing skills, Chess Club is the place for you.

Young people are encouraged to share their chess knowledge, chat and make new friends. You may be our next Grandmaster!

Chess Club is open to all primary and secondary aged children.

Do you have an interest in all things Minecraft? Looking for a space to hone your crafting and creative side? Monthly Minecraft Meets are run by young people for young people and is open to primary and secondary school students aged eight to twelve.

Altona North: First Wednesday of every month. 

Altona Meadows: Third Wednesday of every month.

Technology Training

Introductory technology classes are held regularly at our branches at no charge. Learn the basics in a friendly and supportive environment. Recent class topics include introductions to Computers, the Internet, Word, iPads, and how to download eBooks.

Would you like to practice your English in a relaxed setting and make new friends?  Join our English Conversation Club.
English Conversation Club is a great way to meet people and enjoy conversations on a range of topics. Sessions are free, morning tea is provided, and everyone is welcome including children.

English Conversation Class

Is English your new language? Come and improve your speaking at the weekly Conversation Class hosted by the Hobsons Bay Refugee Network. Volunteer tutors are also needed.
This is a free class, with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Enjoy a light morning tea as we talk books.  Whatever you like to read we would love to hear about it.  There will be a display of new books in the library and plenty of opportunity to share reading recommendations. Let's Talk Books will be coming to Williamstown in 2018. This will be every first Tuesday commencing in March.

For all unpublished writers of fiction, non-fiction and memoir. Join us at Novel Saturdays for some focused writing time in a friendly environment. Each session will begin with a short discussion on a writing topic, followed by free time to get some words on paper.

Tea, coffee and WIFI available.

Please note that this is a supported writing group, and not a workshop or class.

Fabled NightsFabled Nights in Newport

Fabled Nights in Newport is an open-hearted space for people who want to learn to craft and tell true and traditional stories, heart to heart and without notes.  Beginners and experienced storytellers are welcome. We ask that stories be no longer than 10 minutes, give or take. Listeners welcome. 

Fabled Nights in Newport is hosted by Storytelling Australia VictoriaCost: $5.00 or $3.00 (Storytelling Victoria and Newport Fiddle and Folk Club members)
