Rhyme time is a time for you and your baby to share rhymes, songs, stories and play in a creative and relaxed environment.  Suitable for babies and toddlers under two years of age.

Sessions run for approximately 30 minutes.

Wriggle and Read

Wriggle and Read is a fun-filled session that will build language and social skills in your active toddler.  Join us for 30 minutes of jiggling, wiggling, singing, and speaking.  The program also features everyone reading the same book at the same time.

Storytime introduces books rhymes and songs and encourages imagination, socialisation and a life-long love of books and libraries. Suitable for pre-school children over two years of age.
Sessions run for approximately 45 minutes.

Play chess? Want to learn how to play?

Whether you are a new chess player or looking to improve your existing skills, Rookies Chess Club is the place for you.
Rookies Chess Club is run by young people for young people and is open to all primary and secondary aged school children.

Each Friday during school term
4pm to 5pm.

Do you have an interest in all things Minecraft? Looking for a space to hone your crafting and creative side? Monthly Minecraft Meets are run by young people for young people and is open to primary and secondary school students aged eight to twelve.

Introductory technology classes are held regularly at our branches at no charge. Learn the basics in a friendly and supportive environment. Recent class topics include introductions to Computers, the Internet, Word, iPads, and how to download eBooks.

English Conversation ClubEnglish Conversation Club

Would you like to practice your English in a relaxed setting and make new friends?  Join our English Conversation Club.
English Conversation Club is a great way to meet people and enjoy conversations on a range of topics. Sessions are free, morning tea is provided, and everyone is welcome including children.

English Conversation Class

Is English your new language? Come and impove your speaking at the weekly Conversation Class hosted by the Hobsons Bay Refugee Network. Volunteer tutors are also needed.
This is a free class, with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Enjoy a light morning tea as we talk books.  Whatever you like to read we would love to hear about it.  There will be a display of new books in the library and plenty of opportunity to share reading recommendations. Let's Talk Books will be coming to Newport in 2017! This will be every first Tuesday commencing in March.

Fabled NightsFabled Nights in Newport

Fabled Nights in Newport is an open-hearted space for people who want to learn to craft and tell true and traditional stories, heart to heart and without notes.  Beginners and experienced storytellers are welcome. We ask that stories be no longer than 10 minutes, give or take. Listeners welcome. 

Fabled Nights in Newport is hosted by Storytelling Australia VictoriaCost: $5.00 or $3.00 (Storytelling Victoria and Newport  Fiddle and Folk Club members)
