Community Bus Hire
The Hobsons Bay Libraries' Community Bus is available for community groups within the City of Hobsons Bay or groups that service the municipality’s residents.
About the Community Bus
The bus has the capacity to carry 11 passengers plus one driver.
All seats are fitted with seat-belts.
It is recommended that children under the age of 8 should not travel on the bus.
The bus is not equipped to carry wheelchairs.
The bus is located in the locked car park at the rear of Altona Library, 123 Queen Street, Altona. Keys can be collected during library opening hours, and may be returned to Altona Library or in the after-hours book return chute. The key to the car park gate is attached to the bus key ring.
Advanced bookings are accepted by Hobsons Bay Libraries on 1300 HOB LIB (1300 462 542) or in person. Please allow at least 7 days notice of booking.
The cost of hiring the community bus is $90.00 per day. Hiring includes maintenance but does not include fuel. Payments must be made at the library prior to or at the time of picking up the bus. Cancellations of bus bookings are required one week in advance, otherwise 50% of the booking fee will be charged.
How to book the bus
The hirer is required to complete a registration form which pertains to the organisation or group hiring the bus and nominated drivers are required to fill in a driver registration form which is renewable every 12 months.
A full Victorian driver’s licence is required and licence details should be presented at all times to ensure it is current and operable.
