Covid-19 Update

COMMS03110 COVID 19 Library Web Banner 321x180 002In the best interest of the safety and health of the Hobsons Bay community and in line with government Stage 3 Stay-at-Home requirements, all Hobsons Bay Libraries branches will be closed from 6pm, Wednesday 8 July until further notice.

All items currently on loan have been extended until Sunday 30 August 2020. This includes all items – such as DVDs and magazines - that are generally for a 1 week loan period.

Returns can continue to be made through this period through the returns chutes at all Hobsons Bay Libraries branches.

Please call 1300 462 542 between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday if you have any questions about library services at this time. For information regarding other closures and service disruptions in Hobsons Bay, please visit the council website.

Accessing Library collections

Don't forget that we have an extensive e-library collection which includes a range of eBooks, eAudio and film.

If you are a resident of Hobsons Bay, we can also deliver Library items to you free of charge with our Book a Book home delivery service. For more information about this service, or to register your interest, click HERE.

Please note that our e-library collection and home delivery service are only available to members of Hobsons Bay Libraries. If you are not already a member, you can join online HERE.

Events and programs

There will be no in-person programs until further notice. Many of our regular programs including Storytime, Baby Bounce, English Conversation Club, Let’s Talk Books, and Novel Saturdays have moved online and will continue during the closure period. Browse our upcoming events here.

SBS resources

SBS has launched the SBS Multilingual Coronavirus Portal, a dedicated online information hub for multicultural communities to easily access accurate and trusted news and information about COVID-19, in their language.

The portal provides one place where the many Australians who speak a language other than English can come to for the latest news and resources across more than 60 languages, produced by SBS Radio and SBS News.

The SBS Multilingual Coronavirus Portal can be accessed at The portal highlights key information and updates about COVID-19, including the latest news in English, and visitors can then select one of more than 60 languages to browse coverage produced by SBS in that language.
